| | Welcome to GARUDA RECORDS | | ABOUT MANOSE Born to a family of traders and shopkeepers, Nepal native Manose found himself drawn to the bamboo flute as a young boy. His fascination with the rich sound of this instrument quickly developed into true devotion; by the age of seventeen he was already deep into the demanding study of classical South Asian music and had begun to take on students of his own. Now, at the age of twenty-five, he is considered one of the most noteworthy new faces on the world music scene, and his talent as a solo performer, as well as his versatility in a variety of genres, has carried him through Asia, Europe, and the United States. MUSICAL ACHIEVEMENTS In Nepal, he is widely recognized as the country's premiere flautist and is the recipient of national awards including instrumentalist of the year. In 2002, Manose performed on the West Coast of the United States as a solo artist and with Grammy-nominated blue grass musician Peter Rowan. He also appeared with fusion artist Jai Uttal, and recorded with singer Deva Premal. Back in Asia, he took part in a festival of traditional music in Malaysia, and in Nepal's first ever jazz festival where he performed with Australian jazz great Don Borrows. In 2001 he toured France where he performed at the Sorbonne University in Paris. In 1997, he appeared with Peter Rowan at California's Strawberry Festival. In 1996, Manose performed at the Annual Asian Festival in Basel Switzerland, and the Nepali Embassy in Bonn Germany. |
